Personal Branding & Learning Curve

First quarter of 2018 just passed and I could said it's a time full of learning. Have you experienced when you're committed to something then universe pour you its blessing? I just feel it after made a  decision to learn harder this time. I met fabulous mentors and they taught me a lot. 

It's always hard when you admitted mistakes you made, especially when you believed it for long time. For the last 2 years I believed I built @braavosknit in right direction, separated my business with my personal life. I was so confident because I believed I've already had enough knowledge in personal branding & marketing things. Later I should admit that was wrong move and sorting all of it again, put all the pieces puzzle from beginning, starting again. Integrating my personal life/branding with my business is my goal for now. The goal's met when I don't have to say/introduce/telling stories about what I did when meeting someone who knew me.

So if you saw me learn to write by doing #RamadanMenulis challenge in @vinkamaharani, bear with it ;D. Now I'm taking step back so I can move forwards for my future life. =)

Official Cling!

 Just received an official windows cling from foursquare for my workplace, right away from Ames, Iowa - US. It takes 42 days to arrive here safely. I do really envy to this cling. It traveled further than me!

The Garage Sale

Saturday morning, I was very exciting to start the day. It'll be my first garage sale. Then I came to the venue at 8am and my mood was dropped looking the venue still unprepared and no committee there. 
No one. =(
   
Okay, I came back to my boarding house and discussed with my friends about our theme. FYI, for the best decoration in this event will be awarded. So we've agreed to make our stand to be in "Eco-friendly Laundry" theme.

It's garage sale, so we sell second-hand book too
The event goes so-so, doesn't crowd too much. If it looks crowd, it is caused by the ratio of visitor and venue space were too tight. It is actually inspacious. And I, honestly, disappointing by committee's rule. They explained to me that, it is garage sale, so your main things to sell was second hand or already owned by another people. You could bring a new thing, but it's a side sales. In fact, another stand were a boutique, or online shop which had 2 rows of hanger in their stand, full stocked by BRAND NEW clothes. And how about their "secondhand things"? It's just one box, or 1 suitcase maximum. 

The worst thing for me, the media publication of this event were too exaggerated. At this article, the committee said the 18th stand sell recycle things made from unused goods. Err... even I didn't sell recycle things, I sell unused clothes and another matter. 

But anyway, there's always a lesson for every fall. Another time, I should take an offer carefully, and do a thorough, precise check & re-check for my business thingies. Big thanks for my friends, which already support me, Kanti, Rida, Tiwi (gembul, gembuk, syium). I believe we could do better than this. Rikza Cmanka, for supplying us the snacks. Nadzor, Poet, She, Khoti for the stuffs. And off course my lovely boyfie, for the energy & your caring presence. Love you all!

Yes! Kaos Gathotkaca Studio Ada di Roodebrug!

Bener Jeh. Gathotkaca Studio telah bekerjasama dengan Roodebrug Soerabaia yang berlokasi di Jalan Pucang Anom Timur no 70 Surabaya. Kaos-kaos kami bisa kamu temukan dan beli langsung di sini. Tentu merchandise lainnya seperti gantungan kunci dan Rubik a.k.a Surobic Dulinan Mbois juga ada. Tempatnya gampang dicari, nyaman dan mantab jaya. Sabtu besok, 19 Maret 2011, ba'da maghrib adalah launching resmi dari Roodebrug Soerabaia. Monggo langsung datang, karena ada remo, cak & ning, serta segala yang khas Surabaya. Kalau mau beli merchandise Gathotkaca juga bisa. Hehe. Ayo Jeh, mampir mrene kabeh! Oke Jeh?

Sell-a-free

 It's my second day sales at Cergamboree 2011, Indonesia-French Comic Festival. This year was a 3rd. Yesterday I got a session to do animation screening, titled: Surabaya animNation. Our 4th AnimNation. 

What's the benefit from doing this screening, selling merchandise, little stuff which means merely nothing for some people. 

It is small. It is little thing. But time already proved, we could stand strong till now. 

My animation studio was not selling our animation. We sell our merchandise. In other word. our (film) content was download-able and absolutely FREE.

This kind business, had already usual to called as Freemium Content and/or Free Lunch Marketing. I haven't know so much about it. It looks funny or something silly when our business method (which I work it naturally, without any guidance) had already got a name/formula. =D

If you are Indonesian, you would better take a look first to Pandji Pragiwaksono's article on his blog about Free Lunch Method. He'd already compiled what's the essential thing related to Free Lunch Method. In other hand, I want you know that this method inviting a wide discussion and polarization on its pro-cons. Berin Szoka on his article for example, shows how impossible to give a premium content/products with no advertiser, or completely free. 

One thing I believed and already learned was there will be different solution(s) for different problem(s), or in my sentence: different consequence(s) in different challenge(s). It doesn't matter who the inventor, when it invented, but every formula or abbreviation could be re-arrange, re-adapt and almost re-invent. And selling things, it would never as same as 1+1= 2. 

This post is just a 'preambule' of a long thought of mine about Free Lunch Method. I want to introduce you and make you familiar about it. I, as a student and seller at the same time, stand in a both theoretical & practical frame. So I think I could describe and build some a crisp and delicious discussion between us.
