Convo #4 : I Thought You're Jealous

11:00:00

B: Just see, one day I'll tackle her down to give some lesson.
C: May I speak? You could say that you just want to give her lesson, but it sounds like jealousy to me. No, you ARE jealous.
B: Me? I mean like she doesn't have any integrity and virtue to her own brain. She should look upon the truth and logically search the truest answer of the problem. I just show her the right way.
C: Please, don't make any excuse. You're not a Messiah. Just admit that you're jealous because she's taking side on your opposite. It's okay.
B: Perhaps I'm jealous, or not. But her attitude is not appropriate right?
C: It's her choice, though. Come on, let them go. Take the politic, maneuver and trick aside from your horizon. It's their problem if they wanna play dirty. If you jealous, it means you care. I believe you have higher capability, integrity, intention, et cetera. Don't let their moves take you down. Just raise your bar higher. For your own sanity and clarity. Will you?

The Good Wife (2016)

01:52:00

I'm a happy viewer!

5 Recently-Watched Korean Dramas!

23:03:00

1. I Have a Lover
It's my friend's word that made me want to give a look at this drama. She said, "Aah, I wonder if this is how life after marriage. We have a totally different problems, aren't we? You know, I just watched a drama..." and her story lingered. Then I decided to give this 50 episodes drama a go, a really rare decision. I used to watch drama in 10-20ish length, so it's a kind of stamina drenching to watch them, even before started! *ikykwim* I already sensed makjang (exaggerated) typical scenario-tone-expression, so I put my expectations at the lowest. Surprisingly, it turns out good enough for me. The chemistry between lead characters really stole my heart. I somehow absorbed by the simple things such a gesture, diction and the character's growth.

Well, sometimes I should read recap of some episodes, when the antagonists just being true evil like s/he's not even human. But I returned to watch all of the episodes, anyway. If I should give a reason for you to watch IHAL, it must be Ji Jin Hee & Han Hyojoo's act.

2. Reply 1988
I'm a Reply series' fan. From the previous two, I fell in love hardly to them. But I keep my expectation to the lowest for this one, because 2 series as big hit in a row was great, then the third? *fingercrossed* Well, the writer-nim answered me right away with beautiful daily problematic stories and I went cry many times. Overall, I love Reply 1988. If there is a minus point, perhaps I should say the romantic story-line that didn't quite pulling my heart as hard as the previous. Thanks to Ra Mi Ran and Jungpal, lovely antique mom and act-cool-but-so-warm son, I could survive happily and a bit pit-a-pat through the series. Ryu Jun-yeol, love! #teamjungpal #teamjunghwan

3. Another Miss Oh (Oh Haeyoung Again)

Presumption; I don't like Eric as an actor. Don't ask me why. For me, he's more variety type than acting one. But I love Seo Hyunjin, so I decided to watch the early episode.

Fact: I love the drama! Eric's act too! Well, blame my age, now I love how "adult love story" than the "shy-pit-a-pat youth love story". I love how the girl character, where she's brave, straightforward, know what she wants & what she feels and love herself. I love the characterization and the soundtracks. And the greatest part: the chemistry & the physical attraction between the leads, daebak! Give them a chance, if you like rom-com and a bit splash of mystery.

4. Lucky Romance
Ryu Junyeol & Hwang Jungeum for Marie Claire
I watched this definitely for Ryu Junyeol. Hehe. I like how he act as Je Sooho, the genius-programmer-CEO-tinman in love. As my experience live between the geniuses for 2 years in hi-school, I could tell you that Je Sooho is really close to the reality to the overflowed IQ owner. But because of Hwang Jungeum as the woman lead, and the background set of the workplace and also the tone, I got the feeling of "She was Pretty 2.0" from Lucky Romance. Not a bad premise, story-line and actors but the dejavu feeling just keep afloat and it bothered me. I'm just happy for Ryu Junyeol, and that's enough reason to finish the drama.
Rate: 7/10

5. I Remember You (Hello Monster)
This underrated drama should have a spotlight and standing ovation for the plot, storyline, cast, act and chemistry! If you like Sherlock-ish series, you really should watch this. I like how the character grows, how they made a mistake and solve them maturely. I also love how the loveline built, it's honest and somehow raw, just fit as the character developed in every episode. Seo Inguk acting is spread in broad emotion spectrum, Jang Nara also portrayed the detective character perfectly. Really recommended!

Anggaran & Buku

17:04:00

Anda pecinta buku?

Melantur & World Book Day

15:51:00

Barbara Hatley. Javanese Performances on an Indonesian Stage: Contesting Culture, Embracing Change. Alamak, abot nemen rasane.

Hehe.

Yuk, berbagi pengalaman dengan buku!

Kliling-kliling #3: The Ponakans

17:49:00

From this journey, one thing for sure as the aim was meeting with my niece & nephews. It's already several months since the last time I met them. Ied Mubarak, if I'm not mistaken. I miss them so much, and I don't want they forget me. And of course, the side aim was make their uncle much closer. =D

Daiva & Abi
As they growth, they are getting more and more adorable, as always. It makes me happy that they can show their love upon me: how Daiva & Abi hug me tight at the very first. =')

Wangi has reached her babbling phase. I'm more than happy that she directly lingered on me. I believe she still remember my voice, recognizing my story and our laughs. These are priceless.

Wangi & her father, in Buddhist hat.
Wangi, the little vampire. =P
Somehow, by this journey, I wonder: this is the feeling of being an aunt, you have a big love for niece & nephew. But me, as the niece of my aunts, never really understood about their feeling. I feel guilty and want to try show more love to them. I really hope having the chance. Well, one day, definitely.

My Sister's Wedding: Day 1 #night

14:44:00

*thanks to Mbak Nana for reminding me write this post, and still continuing it. =D

June 4th, mid-day.

Yay! One of the biggest thing today had already done. Then I thought we could celebrate it in an easy way: sitting a while, eat a lot. But my presume was all wrong. Just in a minute my mom's friend came in packs and I should do the sweet talks, serve the meals, bla-bla, yada-yada. My mom is a principal in elementary school, then her friends off course came from all elementary school in district(s). They prefer to go to my house in Saturday noon, straight from the school, after their works. That's why mom's friend was like a river in rainy season at that time: nonstop.

I gave myself a break in 4.30pm. Took a bath, and lying down for an hour. It's quite enough to recharge my energy because the night will be loooong! First, walimatul 'urusy. I don't know exactly which culture raised this event. In moslem, parents have a duty to told everyone (in a neighborhood) which their daughter had already married and introduce the groom. So if the groom will be around the bride's house, it won't be any slander among them. Walimatul 'urusy will be full of pray, speech for the bride & groom.
My happy sister & brother in law
In walimatul 'urusy, as a grateful expression of parents, the guess will get a "sayatan". It is javanese. In indonesian, it means slice. Sayatan consists of complete food (rice, chicken/beef, vegetables) and sometimes some cake/dessert. Sayatan had already developed nowadays. Thirty years ago, in villages of Java, sayatan wrapped in banana leaves. But now it does really developed, you could see below:
Look at them, they're cute! ^__^
Walimatul 'urusy went well. Alhamdulillah. Then, the next agenda was preparing for tomorrow. Wedding stage & the decoration of catering were prepared at the night. And.... it's just over at 4am. I just watch over the preparation. I do really really could not imagine how tomorrow will be going.... Oahm.

My Sister's Wedding: Day 1

17:46:00

Finally the day has come!

June 4th, 2011
Today my sister married. I still feeling uneasy with the crowd at home. Yawn over and over. Oh my goodness, sometimes I thought why does the marriage should be this complicated. My aunty said, we should do these tons of thing just for make a grandchild(ren)! =D

It's 8am and my sister just started being made up by the make up artist. I took a bath. Cold. Ah, I'm so sleepy! Thanks God there are cuties little nephews around to make us laugh or even a bit angry. Anyway, the akad or ijab qabul (the procession where the guardian literally ask and marrying bride & groom in moslem) will started at 10am. Hm, I thought I still have much more than enough time for preparing myself.

9am
Omaga! The headman of registrar office had come! The bride hasn't ready, the groom hasn't arrived, I was still wearing this oogie-boogie-homie t-shirt. Argh!

9.10am
I'm ready. Serving dishes to the headman and the crews. Let them eat. Let's take a breath. Pfiuuh.
{OST: Breath -- B2st}

9.25am
Bopo looked sweaty. Every joke he told sounds crunchy. He stared at me with a very deep sight >> Where is the groom?!

9.45am
Olala, finally the groom has come. Let's start it...

9.50am
The bride just finished the make up. But she doesn't want to go to living room. You know why? It's hot. D'oh! Come on sis... >,<
mantene ngisis dulu. -_-"
9.53am
Okay, bismillahirrohmanirrohim....

10.15am
Wow, it's all done. Yeah, it's all done!
Sneak Peek >> as narcissistic as the bride: my nephew Daiva! =D

#4 Jogja & Solo: Let's go!

22:49:00

My last route for the journey were Jogja & Solo. I have no duty to do here, so it is full of fun! =D

Jogja

At Jogja, my sister's boyfie take care of me. Tengkyuuuuu mas Andre! >:D<
My body was so tired, so I fulfill my day at Jogja for sleeping. =D Then I spent my nite with grabbing grilled squids, then go chat till late with mas Andre. Great time. I hope we'll have a great result. Amin!

Solo
From Jogja to Solo, I took PramEks (Prambanan Ekspress) which is a short-destination train route. The ticket was only 9000 rupiahs or $1. Cheap and fast. =)

Purple-ly PramEks. Prambanan Ekspress. Unyuuuuu. =P
Inside the Prameks. The guy on the left with white shirt had a very beautiful eyes. =)
I love the ambiance inside PramEks. Warm. People goes with their family, friends because it's saturday.
Jokes heard everywhere. I love watching people smiles.
 =)

Finally arrived! Yay! =D
Hafi, my beloved friend pick me at Solo Balapan. We've been lived one roof, when she still studied at Unair, but now she choose to continue it in UNS. I'm starved to the death, so Hafi brought me to the unique Solo's dish: Timlo.

Timlo Komplit + Caramel Ice! Yummmmy....
Yes, here. At Timlo Sastro. =)
It's blurry, I know, but I love this pic. Miss u already Hapiiii! =*
For the nite, Hafi took me to Bebek Pak Slamet. I found a great drink there: Es Gula Asem. =D
It is tamarind extract with simple syrup. The taste is same as Gulas candy, but in liquid proportion.

Es Gula Asem. Nice!
Then we were going to Ngarsopuro Night Market. And the best treasure of the journey was found here! =D

Best treasure at this adventure. Ahayhay!
After buying 2 glasses, we're going home and buy fresh milk from Boyolali at Shi Jack's stall. The boy-seller using many tricks such a bartender, even it's milk, hot milk, ice milk, etc. Pretty cool. Hehe.

I love Solo, I love all of the cities I've visited.
Every city has its own story and I recorded it on my heart, deeply.
Thanks for every one which responsible for my life at every city:
Pak Lemon, Devi, Kung, Destri, Mas Andre & Hafi.
Love u all!

=* =* =*

This is the reason why I love sunny day, I could put my sunglasses legally. Ehehehehe.
Look at the crack at the train window. It's so Indonesian typical scenery. *sigh
The victim of the journey. 2 pairs of shoes actually. =P
P.S: Maybe I need another journey next year.
Abroad? Hmm.
I prefer Sumatera & Celebes.
=D

#3 Bandung: Hujan, Hiu, Host & H.. =)

22:40:00

I arrived in Bandung at 12.35pm, November 24th 2010, via a shuttle travel called Roadtrip --which had a very handsome receptionist! He had owl-y look! And a mega-cool-bass voice. *melt to the max!--

Mas Travel!
Ananta a.k.a Ckung picked me up at Dago street, brought me to his place to put up my luggage. As long as I stayed at Bandung, Kung responsible to my life. Ehehehe. Hyperbolic but it's true. Took a rest a while, and becoming not just a while because of the rain. Hard pouring rain. Blame it to the rain if I couldn't take a walk in Bandung. Blame it to the rain if I didn't have any mood to take a picture. Blame it to the rain if I just wanted to roll and roll and roll at the bed. At this time, blame it to the rain.

=P

At 3pm, we went to Salman, and Kung was heading to his lab, doing some assistance. I met with local movie community, F2PB, met with Destri, the girl that already texting with me and my lovely hostess. =)
I really love the atmosphere at F2PB's base camp. Warm & friendly.
I showed them my Surabaya AnimNATION. Alhamdulillah, they responded it positively.

At the nite, I had a dinner with Kung, Asop & his brother which we just met unintentionally. Aksel timeeee! =D
I ate Hiu or Shark! Hehehe. First impression, hm, it doesn't feel scary. Haha. The taste is mix between Kakap & Pari (I don't know the english for these two fish, sorry). Overall, worth to try.

Then, I slept-over at Destri's place. Doing girl-to-girl story telling. Indie movie activist share stories *caelah*. Thanks a lot Destriiiiiiiii! =*

November 25th, 2010. Woke up early, but still, roll and roll and roll at Destri's bed. Kung picked me up at 11am, went to train-station to buy ticket and back to his place to change my clothes. And...... the rain comes again. *sigh* And it stopped at the same times: 3pm. Luckily, because I need to meet Dheny, Kung's friend which become mine too. *blibet* So we went to Kung's campus. He showed me his lovely-red-whale, simple vehicle which had become the participant at Shell Eco Marathon competition.

Kung's red-whale
Had the linner *lunch-dinner* with Dheny and Kung at 4.30pm. Then beat our time to do some arcade game at Istana Plaza. We could finished Rambo below 50 thousand rupiahs! Woooohooooo! *applause* And still have time to preparing luggage, buying Sabana fried chicken and arrived at station precisely. Yay!

Bandung is written on the lamp. Hihi.
Hmm. Short trip but fun at Bandung. Meet new fellas and old-timee fellas too. I think I've already missed Bandung now.
The city, ambiance or the person?
=D

#2: I Love Brainies, May I Have One? ;;)

07:20:00

Yup, finally had done my 2 days of conference, November 22nd-23rd 2010. Indo ICC or Indonesia International Conference on Communication, held by Communication Department, Faculty of Social and Political Science, Universitas Indonesia.
My paper got accepted, so I became a presenter there.
Had several lecturing session with people whom usually "only-read" on the cover of book, such as Prof. Stephen Littlejohn, Prof David T. Craig, Prof David Marshall, Prof Alwi Dahlan, Prof Alois Nugroho, and Dr Ade  Armando. Most of them delivering on how important we prepare and getting ready to the changes that happened because of the technology in communication, digitalization, etc.
It's obvious. I'm delivering this message by blog, rite? =)

The professors
Shattered in the table.
Favorite dress for my presentation day. I know it's over-worn, but what-so-ever. =P
At this kind of academician forum, I feel surrounded by brainies. You know, people with brain or brainy, and the plural form is brainies. =P

I always perceived that brainy is always sexy, instead of his/er physical appearance. If s/he could make their appearance fit on 'em, wow, it's HOT. So when I surrounded by the HOT brainies, I felt like having a fever. First, I admire it. Second, may I have one please? ;;)

#1: A Lone & Long Journey, But I'm Not Alone. =)

03:42:00

I'm on adventure.
Hehe.
I'm doing a journey from Surabaya - Jakarta - Bandung and might be goes on Jogja - Solo and back to Surabaya. I have only a week, so I had to maximize every potential things. Huhu.
It's my 2nd day at Jakarta, getting late (or dawn) now and tomorrow I have a conference to attend.
So, I'll tell you by pictures. Check this out.
Start at Pasar Turi station.
Thanks for drive me here, Kant!
My loyal & faithful partner, Locky tumbler! =*
Ordinary scenery from train window. This ordinary things made me miss of doing journey.
Arrived & picked by PakLemon, have a rest at his place and he cooked for me. Iyei! Simply delicious. =)
I arrived at Jakarta on Saturday morning, 7.21am. Pak Ardhy a.k.a PakLemon a.k.a PakGuru Komputer when I was hi-school picked me up. It's been a long time not see him. When we met, there always a bunch of stories to tell. And so on, and so on. I asked him to accompany me going to Mampang Prapatan after lunch, going to mbak Lulu Ratna's house, the founder of Boemboe.org. Her husband is Beng Rahadian, a well-known comic artist. And found several things unique there, such as:

The 1st Hai magazine cover on the right side. Click to see it larger.
After doing the short visit at Mampang, we continued to have a walk. PakLemon want to go Sabang to buy CD of Kings of Convenient. But we stopped by at Masjid BI to have Ashr pray. And the masjid was great.

Big mirror on wudhu's place. Iconic.
I love this picture. Great. It's Pak Ardhy's back anyway.
The ceilings. Beautiful. The designer really knows how the lighting fit on this peaceful Masjid.
Ironic, when we were going to Sabang, the CD shop has bankrupt. Haha. So we went to Bakmi GM, recharging the fuel then went to Plaza Semanggi. Only got 1 CD of KoC, but bought another musician too. Back to Pengadegan, Pak Ardhy's place, because my cousin would pick me up to go another destination: Sentul.

My cousin, mas Agung's place was at Sentul City, lovely place. He and his wife had 2 dogs, Shih Tzu type. I really love dogs, but at the first time, I came up with a very sleepy and dizzy head. So I just avoiding them But at Sunday morning, I already had play with them. The cute Willy & Elmo.*already miss them*

Willy & Elmo wait me downstair. Too cute to be true.
Just like a live version of doll. So cuuuuuute!
I just spent my Sunday with mas Agung's fam. Went out for lunch, and successfully spent my 5pm to 10pm by sleeping. Wow. Accumulation of my tiredness might be. At 10.30pm we were heading to Jakarta, to Gatsu, go to Devi's place. So, here I am, at Jekarda, finishing my powerpoint for my Tuesday presentation, and blogging for a while. It's still a long journey.
It won't be boring, I promise.
Because boring is so unbearable.

XOXO,
Vinka Maharani
